His Eminence, Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, received a first class relic of Saint José Sánchez del Río and placed it in the care of the Shrine. This relic is ex ossibus, which means “from the bone.” The reliquary (a container for holy relics) was made in Mexico.

On February 10, the feast day of Saint José Sánchez del Río, the relic will be placed upon the altar during a special Mass for the Youth Guild. At the end of Mass, the priest will give a special blessing with the relic, asking the young saint’s prayers for the members of the guild.
